Dolls can play an important part in the emotional development of little boys and little girls.
Although the majority of manufacturers state that dolls are suitable for toddlers aged three years and older, with parental supervision it is possible to buy dolls when toddlers are a bit younger. You need to follow the safety instructions and ask yourself why the manufacturer is recommending a particular age.
Doll toys teach children about relating with others and caring for others. Dolls can also result in squabbles as toddlers want to play with the same doll at the same time. It is a good lesson to learn at a young age that toddler cannot always get what he or she wants.
Toddlers older than three role-play much more with dolls and use their imaginations to create scenarios and every day situations. Toddlers younger than three like to cuddle baby doll and feed dolly or push her in her pram but they tend to go no further.
