How to Choose and Buy Baby Toys – 9 - 12 months

Oh boy – baby is on the move. Your baby will be looking at the world in a new light as they begin to crawl, sit up and perhaps start to cruise around the furniture. Babies will be most interested in learning through toys that need a little problem solving – they are interested in object permanence and will love playing peek-a-boo with you now.

Let baby find and choose their toys in the house. As a parent you've been used to giving baby toys to play with up to now. Now it's baby's turn to go and find their toy - all a part of gaining independence and growing up.

Skill Development Toys

Manual dexterity development is important now so look for toys that baby can pick up with their fingers and explore. Music plays a big role now and baby will enjoy banging a drum, shaking a maraca and, with your supervision, jangling bells.

Books

Books start to play an even bigger part too so look at beginning to graduate from board books to paper books. And be prepared to read them again and again and again.
