Toys to Encourage Crawling

Baby may be sitting up at this point and will be trying to learn to crawl. You might want to look for toys that will encourage your baby to crawl.

There are battery operated toys available that do actually roll around in front of baby to encourage them to follow. The VTech Move and Crawl Ball is a great addition to the toy box. It encourages baby to crawl and teaches about sounds and shapes too.

Exploration Toys

Toys that help baby explore different shapes, sounds and cause and effect play will also help baby develop their motor and thinking skills.

You'll see a great deal of repetition at this stage as babies try to learn and remember. There are some fantastic wooden toys that babies will love to play with like Noah's Ark or shape-sorter toys from Igloo Kids.

Books

VTech produces a “Rhyme and Discover” book that plays traditional nursery rhymes so you can sing along. It's worth looking at as it could still be played with when baby is much older.

Playmats

Babies still like their play mats and some play mats have accessories where you can buy add-ons that match your baby's level of development.
