For more than 25 years, Playmobil has been inspiring children to create their own adventures and use their imaginations. Playmobil's raison d'etre is the two and three quarter inch figure.

The figure has hands that grasp, arms that move and legs that bend. Playmobil's figure is the perfect size for a child to play with and it's multifunctional. Playmobil themselves admit that they've seen knights help a farmer feed the pigs!

Playmobil was founded in Bavaria Germany in 1876 by Andreas Brandstätter. The company originally made casket fittings and locks.

After many years of successfully producing engineering materials, the company as it looks today really started to come into being in the 1950s.

In 1958 the first real international sensation was the launch of the plastic hula hoop. At this point, the toys started to be produced from plastics and were sold worldwide.

In the 1970s, following the oil crisis the company had to take a view on the product range and Playmobil was launched in 1975. In 1999 Playmobil celebrated 25 years of success and opened up funparks in Orlando, Florida and Paris.
