Brands of Baby Toys - Galt

Galt has been established for over 150 years in the UK. James Galt himself was born at Stewarton in Ayrshire in Scotland and set up an educational outlet in Manchester in 1836.

In the 1850's James Galt evolved into printing and publishing and has continued producing educational books for young children.

In the 1950s James Galt moved from Manchester to its current location in Cheadle. Because of the huge variety of creative children's products James Galt was producing in the 20 Century, in 1961 a specialist toy division was formed.

Galt toys are designed to encourage and intrigue children in a fun and lively way. They are aimed at children from birth to around 10 years old. The company uses a variety of materials when making toys and its classic collection invariably reverts to the traditional method of producing wooden toys.

Galt tends to be associated with art and craft toys – toys designed for creative play - but over the years James Galt has also been developing innovative toys for the early years including the Galt Playnest and the Galt Playnest Gym.

Galt has a number of toy interests including:

  • The First Years
  • Construction
  • Young art
  • Puzzles
  • Classics
  • Creative art
  • Home learning books
  • Activity packs
  • Play and learn.

The art range in particular is extensive and includes everything from finger paints and easy painters for toddlers through to glitter pens and colouring pencils for the older child.

Galt's range of art toys will help to develop the creative and imaginative skills that baby will need when heading to school. Galt also produces modelling clay for the slightly older toddler to mess around with.

Galt concurs with safety regulations for toys and uses the CE mark which is necessary in Europe.
